Wocawson the Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus)

Wocawson  (Wo’-caw-sun) was found injured as a juvenile 1985. She has a permanently disabled right wing and cannot fly. She was given to Chewonki by Tri-State Bird Rescue in 1989.

Our Bald Eagle was named “Wocawson,” meaning “gentle wind maker,” in a Native American naming ceremony by Mike Renko, a Penobscot Indian of Belfast.

Wocawson is not currently available for traveling presentations.
