Emma grew up in rural Western Massachusetts and spent much of her young life playing in the outdoors and being fascinated by plants and animals. Her love of the natural world led her to study at Colby College in Waterville, ME where she received a B.A. in Biology. She arrived at Chewonki in January 2010 and has been with the Traveling Natural History Programs ever since. She is passionate about natural history education and fostering an emotional connection to and responsibility for nature in our increasingly technology and screen-oriented world. One of the things she enjoys most about working for Chewonki’s traveling programs is visiting communities all over Maine from the Western mountains to the coastal islands and from Caribou to Kittery.
